APA Style Seventh Edition: Cite Sources Using Noodletools
This LibGuide includes information on how to format your paper and create the Reference page using the guidelines in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition, 2020.
This online resource allows you to build MLA and APA citations. CCTC students may create their individual account through the Library's NoodleTools account. After creating your account, follow Tabs 1-4 below or access the PDF file below to learn the steps of developing your citation list.
If you are using NoodleTools for the first time, register for your free account that is provided by the library. Enter your CCTC email address and a password that you create.
Click on the green button in the top right corner labeled, +New Project.
Provide a title for the project (example: History 101 assignment.
Select the citation style (APA or MLA).
Select the citation level for advanced comprehensive coverage.
Click on the blue button that is labeled, Submit.
Click on the title of the project in the populated list.
Click on the Sources link on the left side of the screen.
Click on the green button on the top right labeled, + New Source.
Click the tab that describes where you located your resource. For example, if you are citing material from a database, select the Database tab.
Select the specific content type. For example, if you are citing a journal article, select journal.
Enter the required information about your source in the boxes and click the blue button labeled, Save. Note: When entering information in the boxes read the error alerts indicated by the yellow triangle and make corrections as needed.
To add other sources to the list, repeat steps 3-6.
Note: Each citation has an added content button. Click on the three vertical dotsat the end of each citation to see the in-text citation (example: Robinson 492) and other options.
Click on the Export/Print icon at the top right section of the screen.
Click on the phrase, print/Export to Word.
Note: The pop up window default choice is Export all sources, but other options are available.
Click the blue button that is labeled, Submit. The document will open in Microsoft Word.
Locate the CCTC library NoodleTools link on the library webpage, myCCTC, D2L or LibGuides.
Click on My Projects at the top left corner of the page.
Locate your project in the Project Title list. Click on the title of your project.
To access the individual citations in the project, click on the Sources icon in the blue area on the left side of the screen.
