When working with any source, we should be sure that we are properly attributing it not only in our works cited page, but also within our essay. It is imperative that we use in-text citations to document our claims. Please refer to the 8th edition of the MLA Handbook to see how to cite in MLA format. While going through the databases, we should find places where the databases prepare citations for us. For example, in CREDO Reference, there is a citation button that will generate a Works Cited citation for the page we are currently viewing:
When we click on the quotation marks , we are taken to a selection screen where we will select "MLA Format" for the citation. CREDO Reference then supplies the following citation for this page:
While it seems that we have the full, correct citation, we will still have to go back and be sure that the citation provided meets MLA format requirements. Other databases will have a similar function; just look for the "cite" icon.
